The God of Halloween

It’s Halloween…and my kids are way stoked. Jesse is going to be skeleton, Noah a Jedi, and Sasha a mermaid. The boys costumes are home made and Sasha’s is store bought…and they are all super cool, imho. I have posted in the past about how I really detested Halloween for it’s glorification of evil. And […]

Holy Jiu-jitsu

Have you ever heard the saying “What Satan intends for evil God turns to good”?  If you have spent enough time in certain churches…chances are you have.   That’s a good thing btw.  Well, it actually has a scriptural source, though it sounds like it might not.  It comes from the story of Joseph in Genesis […]

I prefer Red Lobster but McDonalds will do. I recently saw the above quote on the card board sign that a homeless guy was displaying.  It made me laugh.  I think it is actually pretty clever marketing.

I watched the movie Expelled last night finally on DVD. It was really phenomenal. Ben Stein did an excellent job. It would be easy for me to say that I can’t believe anyone could see the movie and not be convinced. But I know that there likely have been people who will see it and […]

Car problems

My car is having some difficulty starting. It will start. It just doesn’t fire right up right away. I hate car problems. I always feel…y’know…kind of helpless. And the mechanic that I take my car to (an honest one) isn’t open until Monday. Which means I have to limp around here and there this weekend. […]

Being church wherever you are

We are all but fans

I’ve been cruising through Genesis lately.  And right away, the theme of what it means to be made in God’s image is fresh in my mind.  For me this is a massive theme.  And one aspect of that reality is that, if God is a creator, so are we called to create.  It’s in our […]

Trek Movie update

I just found these pics that are from the forth coming Trek Movie being produced by JJ Abrams (of LOST fame).    Wow!  Great pics!  The uniforms look great!  The bridge of star ship (Enterprise?) looks great!  The look of these have a kind of retro look that is respectful of the old series while still looking […]

What's better?

It’s been a long time since I did any kind of quiz kind of thing. So today I thought I might create one to be passed on. Do it if you want to. If not cool. Btw, is that called a meme? Any how, here it is, I’ll start, it’s called What’s Better: 1. Pie […]

go swimming

I happened upon the following quote out in my sojourning and thought it was both funny, clever, poignant…and worth sharing (kind of a new take on the making lemonade when life gives you lemons): In the dream where you show up to school naked, why do you never go swimming?
