Follow your folly

For some time now I’ve been pondering and praying over where does faith connect with being green.  I came across this funky and interesting site sponsored by the good people at New Belgium (yeah, Fat Tire!!) that is a good exploration space.  I like the whole “follow your folly” concept.  Taking into account the Biblical […]

Spiritual Vitamin C

Yesterday in church, my Pastor Jeff asked us all to where red ahead of time to symbolize the Holy Spirit’s coming to the followers of Jesus on Pentecost.  Red was the theme.  And throughout Jeff’s message he used red imagery to symbolize various aspects of the Holy Spirit. And sitting there, I found a nutrition […]

Labyrinth

Last Wed night I finished up my teaching series on tangible worship with a portable labyrinth.  It fit was small enough to fit in Jeff’s livingroom and yet large enough to accomodate about three people at once.  I’ve been wanting to walk one for seems like forever.  And I have to say, even with my […]

My morning call to worship

Every morning I get a wonderful blessing.  I awake with the song of the Cardinal who sings close to my house.  He comes around about…ohhhh….5:30 am like clockwork just about the time the sun rises.  His cheerful song of  *pewjit-pewjit-pewjit-thyew-thyew-thyew* gives me joy.  It brings a smile to my face and reminds me of God’s goodness and […]

Where Heaven meets Earth

Last week, I was walking to the train after a fairly rigorous day.  And as I was nearing a crosswalk, I noticed a woman across the street wearing a very large sign that said something like “God’s Word Brings Life”.  With remarkable speed, she turned suddenly and entered the crosswalk herself and met me on […]

Turned the key…nothing

Went to my car yesterday after work to go home…as I do every day…turned the key…and it wouldn’t start.  🙁  Something about that kind of situation just makes a person’s heart sink.  I tried again and again to see if it would start.  Then I enlisted the help of a good samaritan who tried to […]

Jerry Falwell's legacy

As you probably already know, Jerry Falwell died yesterday.   Heard this very good commentary yesterday on NPR refelcting on Falwell’s legacy.  It’s largely critical, which I really think it should be.  But it does have some hopeful things to say as well.

Spiderman 3

*Warning:  Mild Spoilers Follows*  I went to go see Spiderman 3 the weekend it opened (and I’m just now getting around to reviewing it).  And, judging from the money that the film is making, chances are good that you have seen it as well.  Now, I’m a massive Spidey fan.  So, it didn’t take much for me […]
