Thinking thoughts of Advent, of waiting upon God.  Thanks to Jonny Baker for the inspiration of this post. If you will join me, let this prayer be your prayer today in preparation for Advent:   be silent be still alone empty before your god say nothing ask nothing be silent be still let your God look […]

Lonnie

Hey, has anyone seen this documentary on the life of Lonnie Frisbee.  I am wanting to see it badly.  I didn’t know anything about Lonnie until the announcement of the documentary.  Regardless of how he fell into sin, we very likely would not have had Calvary Chapel, the Vineyard, and the Jesus People movement in […]

Changes

Got the official news this weekend that Mars is shutting down.  But, as Justin relates…it appears to be for the best.  And I distinctly remember Wolfgang Simson stating that it is very normal for churches to have life expectancies and to die.  But that doesn’t mean there isn’t some sorrow involved.  I was involved with […]

Toddler property laws

My 2 year old daughter Sasha the Toddler Property Laws hammered.  It is very common to hear her cries of protest against her brothers who have objects that obviously belong to her.  In fairness, sometimes they really do.  But she has a remarkably wide opinion as to what belongs to her.

Giving thanks any ways

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the US.  As a lead up to that, Jeff has been teaching a series called “Giving Thanks Anyways”.  Iow, this is giving thanks even in the midst of hardship.  As I’ve said, not at all an easy thing to do if you have tried. I was asked to bring an […]

A week or so I bought a copy of Time whose cover article is entitled God vs. Science . The title just caught my eye. What also caught my eye is that it is a debate between fundie Darwinist Richard Dawkins geneticist and practicing Christian Francis Collins. I looked on the internet for reviews of […]

Aeoffyn and the Centaur

Before I forget I wanted to tell you about a brief excerpt from a story that Josh Mcinnis has written.  It is called Aeoffyn and the Centaur.  The scene is what I think is one of the Cymry which I’m guessing takes place somewhere in the period of the Saxon invasion/Roman departure of/from Albion.  It […]

Lord have mercy!

On the train yesterday, I overheard a conversation that between a young man and a young woman.  It was obvious that they were strangers, but were engaged in a friendly conversation.  The young woman asked the fellow what his destination was.  He shared that he was off to a physical therapy appointment for a gun […]

Witches are people too

From Josh’s blog today I followed link to a church that he’s visited called The Gathering (cool name btw).  And I stumbled upon an article written by The Gathering’s pastor Phil Wyman.  From the moderate dealings I’ve had with Neo-Pagans I can tell you that Wyman is straight on target with much of what is […]
